New locos arrive at the S&NLR!

Over the last fortnight three new locos has arrived on the railway. Two weeks ago the boiler and cab of a Playmobil tank engine arrived on the railway - this has now been painted into a crimson lake and gold livery, once completed it will be a fully working loco and will be named "Lilly".
The second loco to arrive was the Playmobil diesel shunter below, this is in working order and will be painted into BR Brunswick green over the coming weeks.
The third loco to arrive (not pictured) is another but very unusual Playmobil tank made up especially for the railway.

Update

The railways Playmobil diesel has started to have its repaint with the yellow warning panels being painted onto both ends of the loco below the cab just before Christmas. Its still being decided as to which livery the loco will be painted into - either GNER or most likely National Express East Anglia. This will be done in the Spring.
The railway has received a large wooden station sign in Eastern dark blue, this has been made especially for us and says Sprowston. The sign will be over looking the patio on the garage wall during open days.

End of Year Report

The purchase of Cambrai last winter has been well worth it as it was the main loco all through 2008, Spreewalds purchase was also a good one with hauling trains through the second part of the year alongside Cambrai.

During late spring it was seen that the Stainz was in need of an overhaul with excessive wear on its electric motor when it was looked at on reports of jollity running. And its hoped to have the loco back up and running by summer 2009.

Its thought that the new loco a Frank S will be a popular performer on the railway through the coming year and is due to visit the Fundenhall Railway in the summer.

We have a number of plans for the railway for 2009 these include:

  • Constructing a street scene behind Sprowston Station with possibly a market!
  • Installing a siding at Weybourne with a Model Town loco shed being added later in the year!
  • There is also talk of lifting the track near the church and installing a viaduct here! - a plan of this to make it more clear will be posted here within the next month.
  • We are also planning to purchase a railcar!
  • During the summer we hope to purchase our very first live steam locomotive in the form of a Accucraft Edrig upon arrivle on the railway it will be named "Little Nellie" after a much loved family member who has also played a big role in the railways development during the past couple of years. The loco will be in Crimson Lake livery.
