Ragleth to visit Butterely and more locos confirmed for Spring Gala

Ragleth will be visiting Butterely Garden Railway at the Midland Railway Center during half term. In preparation for this and also our Spring Gala the loco has been washed down and also had its inside motion painted red.

Above/Below: Resident locos Spreewald & William Marriot have now been confirmed to run at the Spring Gala, the final line up will be announced here on 19th February

Spring Gala

The Spring Gala will be held on 21st February, and will feature five live steam locomotives and up to seven electric powered locos. Guest locomotives will visit from the Dibden Valley Railway and the Old Catton Light Railway. Click on the poster of the event below for a bigger version.

DVR loco out-shopped on the S&NLR

Dibden Valley Railways loco No.19 "Red Devil" has been out-shopped from our workshops today in its new midland red livery. The loco will be with us until after our Easter Open Day.
Also today our live steam loco "Little Nellie" was seen on a short train undergoing checks after winter maintenance ahead of the Spring Gala

This train is now arriving at: 2011

2011 looks set to be another good year for the S&NLR with plenty going on.
We plan to hold 2 open days this year, once again attend the Whitwell Steam Rally with both our locos.
We have also been contracted by the Dibden Valley Railway to paint some of their locos an stock, which will also be visiting us for a while after.
We are planning an extension which will be constructed this year, we will also be getting one or two new locos or items of rolling stock
